18 examples of the spectacularly wrong predictions made around 1970 when the “green holy day” (aka Earth Day) started : 1. Harvard biologist George Wald estimated that “civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” 2. “We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation,” wrote Washington University biologist Barry Commoner in the Earth Day issue of the scholarly journal Environment. 3. The day after the first Earth Day, the New York Times editorial page warned, “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.” 4. “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich confidently declared in the April 1970 issue of  Mademoiselle . “The death rate will incre...

Hydro Car

A study in the UK-based research consultancy, Juniper Research, suggested hydrogen vehicles could be taken up like hot potatoes and become a viable alternative to battery electric vehicles (BEV) by 2027. The study  suggests the number of hydrogen vehicles in service globally will exceed 1 million in 2027 – from just over 60,000 in 2022, demonstrating growth of more than 1,500%. Hydrogen vehicles are best described as vehicles that use hydrogen propulsion systems as their on-board fuel, with the chemical energy of hydrogen and oxygen reacting with fuel cells and converting the energy to electricity. Well no surprise to this blogger as 5 yrs ago I ran a article showing the benefits of Hydro cars over the Ev's. According to Juniper, the consumer market will lead the hydrogen vehicles space, with cars accounting for more than 60% of hydrogen vehicles in service globally in 2027. The nascent development stage of many car types and the high average cost of hydrogen powered cars at...

Where are we Now?

Anthony Albonese took the leadership of the ALP in 2019 before ALP won government in 2022. Well firstly we must realise he has been a behind the scenes politician most of his time and slid into this position after a useless Shorten resigned.  He was aware Morrison could be beaten regardless of the opposition at the 2022 election so his own lack of profile and limited ability and policies would not emerge before he became PM.  So the effigy and bff of Kevin Rudd is proving himself to be his effigy and just gave Rudd the US anassodor job the most sought after position in Australian political retirement.
